As a result, I’m returning to the fold as a member of Marty Zucker’s live band, where we will be performing around L.A. at the usual haunts. I really missed playing with the guys these last few months, and I’m grateful for this development, as I’ve always felt that us musicians should continue to perform as much as we can, while we still can! Upcoming gigs, starting in November, will be posted here, and on other sites.

……..in this year of 2011. Because of the state of the economy, and residuals therof, the business that I have worked for for the better part of 30 years, AAA Wholesale Tool & Supply, was barely keeping it’s head above water, if that. Some changes had to be made in an attempt to save the business. Cutting the overhead was first, including laying off a couple of fine guys, reducing the total space we rented, and adjusting the schedule, so one owner and 2 management people could handle all the hours of business. Not an easy task with a skeleton crew. With the additional hours I had to work, the first casualty from my personal activity was my participation in Marty Zucker’s live band. I had a great time playing quite a few gigs with him and the guys in 2010, but it wouldn’t have been fair to them, or myself, to continue if I couldn’t give my best effort. Marty is still playing around the L.A. area with some of the same guys, and some new cohorts…check them out if you get a chance. I continue to work with Marty in the studio,as both musician and producer. I’m happy to say that as of Aug.1, business had stabilized enough to warrant hiring back one of our guys at AAA Tool. Part time basis right now, but it’s a start, and Mark and I, and Vince are all enjoying a bit of a return to a semi-normal schedule. While not spectacular, business is well on the improve from last year. Let’s hope it continues. I’ve got a couple musical projects in the oven…hope to debut in early 2012. While I don’t get much vacation time this year, I will get the chance to travel to Texas for a couple of days to see my good friend John Clancy play with the Ken Demith band. Really looking forward to that, and a couple of days in Vegas. So, I hope that the business climate in l.A. improves in the final quarter, and that things keep getting better in 2012. Cheers

…..I will try to take with me, into the new year, the positive moments. Being able to play and write music, and to play an instrument, is a gift that I will never take for granted. No matter how hard life gets, economic, social, family. personal, music has always given me the breathing room I need to take a step back, and relieve my mind of the troubling, and fill my heart with the uplifting. Here’s to 2011, in advance.
Hoping it will be a better year for all. And to my lovely
Sharon, happy new year, I love you.

…..had us billed as “James Bond Band” (for reasons that
maybe only Mr. Zucker can explain), I assure all that at our first show of 2011, also at Rusty’s, we will return as “Marty Zucker & The Double Agents”. For how long, we will see, as this eventful year has seen us go from
“Marty Zucker & the Falcons”, to “The MI5″, “British Invaders”, “Double Agents”, to our current moniker. I believe it is fitting to have our fearless leader’s name in the title of the group. Here at the end of 2010, we have evolved (or “de-volved”) in to an efficient 4 piece, power trio with singer format. This by no means diminishes the important contributions by Chris Silagyi, who helped get this project off the ground, and Steve Deutsch, who filled in admirably during the second half of the season.
The efforts by both gentlemen are greatly appreciated.
The dozen or so shows we did in 2010 gave us some well needed updating on the state of the live music scene in the Los Angeles area. We’re looking forward to improving on our networking, and providing some great music in the year to come. See you on Jan. 14, 2011 at Rusty’s Surf Ranch on the Santa Monica Pier.

Cheers,
Rich Hunter

Q and A with Martin Bond:

How would you describe your music?
The secret agents of music feature original music influenced by the best of pop, rock and spy prior to 1974 when music had quality.

Who are the band members?
The Double Agents are Martin Bond (singer/composer), Steve Deutsch (keyboards), Rich Hunter (guitar/singer) , Kit Dennis (bass) and Robert Pina (drums).

What’s your email for booking the band?
doubleagents@ymail.com

It’s been reported that you’re the illegitimate child of Pussy Galore and Tom Jones.
My legend has been wildly misinterpreted.

How did the current band come about?
The band is an outgrowth of Marty Zucker & the Falcons. Many of the songs in our current repertoire are on the CD “So Good To See Me” available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/martyzfalcons1
and other online outlets. I approached Rich and Steve who were instrumental in getting the ball rolling. They produced the CD. Kit and Robert were enlisted through security checks.

What songs do you play in concert that are not on the album?
Hey Bulldog, Secret Agent Man etc..

Why was your knighthood rejected?
I recieved a telegram saying that I was deemed “to sexy for this world”.

Will there be a Rock Band game of the band?
Eventually.

What part of the world do you come from?
From the west coast of North America in a city called Los Angeles.

How was your World Tour?
It proved to me that music really is a universal language.
Seeing people who don’t speak English singing your songs with you is an amazing feeling.

Are you on tour now?
We now play in Los Angeles.

What’s your philosophy on touring?
Times have changed. Our fans don’t want to wait for us to come to their town so we stay in one city so they can come see us. I call it reverse touring. Our audience has more disposable income than we do.

Do women still scream when you perform?
Do you mean on stage? Yes.

How good are you musically?
When many people say “you are the shit” there must be some truth to it.

Who’s your audience?
Seems to be attractive women, record collectors and the american idle.

What’s unique about your band is that you have
charisma, an identity, and good songs.
Thank you.

That’s a rare commodity. You and your band seem to be in a class by yourselves. It’s refreshing.
Thank you.

You’ve been called one of the greatest singers of your generation.
I’m honored.

Is your music career an important outlet for you?
It’s an release of pent up expression that wouldn’t be appropriate in other facets of my life.
He is a fine drummer and we’re very excited to welcome him into the fold. I would like to thank Tommy Vilela for all the work he did for us this year.
